As I reflect back on this past July I am in a loss of words. Lagitt was the most amazing, fantastic, fun-filled, uplifting experience of my life. It wasn't just a month of camp, it was an adventure that gave me a greater love for the land of Israel. Before this summer I was not so sure that I was going to be able to go to seminary for a year, halfway across the world, away from my family and in an unfamiliar setting but at lagitt I realized how much I love Israel and that if I want to go I most definitely will be able to. Mrs. Wachsman those first few days when I wasn't so sure that I was able to make it you sat with me by the city of David and told me that you knew I could make it and I did, and when I was starving during my fast you told me I could make it and I did. Rabbi. Wachsman, you were and amazing tour guide and photographer and I really enjoyed all of those songs that you taught us. I am so happy that this is the program I picked to go on this summer.

Thank you so much for LAGITT! I'd wanted to go on the trip ever since hearing about it in 5th grade, and it was absolutely amazing. Tanach is so much more real now that I can actually remember and picture the places mentioned, instead of just hearing about Gei Ben-Hinnom, Shiloh, and Me'aras Yechizkiyahu as plain "valleys", "tunnels", etc., and I really did develop a love for Eretz Yisroel (apologies for the cliché, but it's true!). Thank you for making my first time there so wonderful; the tour was very well-organized and you were both so enthusiastic and knowledgable about the sites that we visited - and even those that we did not. Mrs. Wachsman, thank you so much for checking up on me when I was sick, and forcing me to eat/drink/take Advil and still go on the hikes and participate.

WOW! I can't believe the month is really over and I'm sitting here in America reflecting back on my incredible month in Israel. Where did all the time go? As I try to express my gratitude to you for running the most amazing, fun-filled, inspiring program, I'm at a loss for words. I've been to Israel before with my family, but I can honestly say that this trip has given me a deeper appreciation for the land, the history of the land, and the greatness of the mere soil we walked on. Each and every one of the action packed days balanced some history with some fun (not to say the history wasn't fun) etc. I really owe you so much hakaras hatov for running such an amazing, organized program and giving me the experience of a lifetime. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to experience a summer I will treasure forever. You both did an amazing job leading our group! I was really excited to tour Israel, but LAGITT was so much more than just a tour. The daily hikes, inspiring museums, singing as we walked on the walls of the Old City, and basically everything intensified my appreciation and love for Israel. I can't believe how much I learned in this short month. Learning and being in Israel reminded me that all of us are connected to the people that, throughout the generations, have been davening "B'shana HaBa'ah B'Yerushalayim" and to the people that sacrificed their lives, so that we could be in Israel today. As a new summer settles in I find it difficult to believe that I will not be traveling to Israel once again on L.A.G.I.T.T.

It was definitely the best summer of my life; the tours, hikes, dvar torahs, and basically everything were amazing. Words can't even describe how much fun I had on L.A.G.I.T.T.

I really have to give thanks to you, for helping me feel welcome and at home, from the moment we met at the airport, tears and all, I knew that I had picked the best Israel program there is. Thank you so much for helping me experience Israel as a unique and special place and helping me grow closer to Israel emotionally.

The girls on this trip are truly wonderful; when I needed to get stitches on my elbow (and I still have the scar as a souvenir) they were so caring and I am so grateful to them. No one could ask for better people to spend 4 weeks in Israel with, they are some of my closest friends, and I still keep in touch with them. Whenever I look at pictures from my trip I reminisce about all the adventures we had traveling and touring through Israel. From the crazy hikes at 5 in the morning, to swimming in the red sea, to davening at the Kotel, or walking through Meah Shearim I absolutely loved my experience on L.A.G.I.T.T. in Israel.

I am currently writing the thank you letter that I should've written long ago, in August 2007. I put it off and put it off until before I knew it, I was packing for camp again! However, I'm glad I waited because now I truly appreciate how wonderful LAGITT was/is.

This July I went to a different traveling camp, the name is unimportant, and it was fun, but I didn't come out of there saying "best summer of my life" as I did when people asked about last summer. Why, you might ask. Well there are a few different reasons. First and probably foremost (which had nothing to do with the running of the program), it wasn't Eretz Yisrael, and no matter how beautiful a place in chul is, it just can't compare. Next, the girls were just not the same. I made such strong friendships last year because the girls were just so amazing and so much fun; I felt like I didn't have that opportunity in camp this summer. And what most importantly brought LAGITT above the rest? It was Rabbi and Mrs. Wachsman. I'm being very honest. Yes this year our heads were good people who wanted us to have a good time, but I never felt very close to them. In LAGITT all the girls became a family because we had our surrogate parents with us. I really felt like you cared about us and for that I send a double thank you.

I'm glad I went where I did this year so I could truly appreciate how much you did to make last summer amazing.

Your extensive knowledge of history really helped me understand where I was and the significance of every place we went... And of course, thank you for putting up with 48 teenage girls for 4 weeks, and THAT is a real statement.

Mrs. Wachsman: Every single day you continues to amaze me with how much care and concern you had for us. You were even beyond our "mommy". Thank you for always watching out for us..; you were always on top of things, and I was never worried because I knew you would always be there to organize and work things out. Thank you for always being so patient with us, regardless of the stress you were under. You were always prepared for anything we could need, from a plastic bag to a lactaid. Thank you for always being open and available to us for whatever we needed, and for always being open to a schmooze!
